Celebs, they’re just like us. When it comes to beauty, in many ways, they actually are. All that prep leading up to red carpet season could be simplified to this mantra: pay special attention to the face, neck, and décolleté.

To get skin worthy of a red carpet (and just like the celebs who walk it) start by enlisting the help of an experienced professional and using effective products. Here, Hollywood’s most in-demand facialists democratize their skincare secrets.

Get Into a Routine

“Your daily regimen of proper cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating, and sun protection is non-negotiable,” says Danuta Mieloch, an aesthetician and founder of Rescue Spa in New York City and Philadelphia. Steps should be followed in that order: first cleanse, then exfoliate, then hydrate, then protect. “I strongly suggest using a specific neck cream,” she adds.

Give Yourself a Massage

Massages aren’t just for relaxation—they can help with lymphatic drainage to reduce the appearance of puffiness too.“Performing a good facial massage requires practice. You can always begin by using gentle movements upward and pressure points,” says Mieldoch.

Don’t Forget the Décolleté

“I see so many clients who invest in their faces with treatments and products, yet it’s clear to me they are not giving their necks and chests the same love and attention,” says Angelina Umansky, an aesthetician and co-founder of Spa Radiance and Spa Radiance Medical in San Francisco.

“Look at any star on the red carpet, and I assure you her neck and chest will be as tight and smooth as her face. Always treat your neck and chest with peptide-rich products followed by a generous application of sunscreen.” Start with a product like StriVectin’s TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream Plus, specifically formulated to visibly tighten, brighten and smooth this region, before layering on your favorite SPF.

Retinol. Retinol. Retinol.

“While you’re sleeping, your skin cells are busy little bees healing and regenerating quicker than in waking hours. Apply an active serum or cream at night that contains retinol, a proven anti-ager.

Retinol can make a huge difference in rebuilding the skin barrier and treating wrinkles, fine lines, oily skin, and breakouts,” says Umansky. “Couple your retinol treatment with an antioxidant-rich serum for an extra brightening and anti-aging boost.”

Lift and Repeat

“Celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Oprah, and Jennifer Lopez swear by microcurrent facials for a good reason — they’re a non-surgical facelift. Celebrity or not, nobody likes looking in the mirror and seeing sagging jowls and disappearing cheekbones, says Umansky. “Think of microcurrents as Pilates for your face; the only way to get results is to do it religiously. I advise one microcurrent session every three weeks.”

Make Friends with an Aesthetician

“There’s nothing more effective in your skincare routine than a great facial. It requires expertise and experience,” says Mieldoch. “Remember that the road to great skin is a process. It’s like working out—all about consistency. It’s difficult in a facial session to repair years of neglect. That’s why we recommend monthly treatments to tap into skin cell regeneration every 28 days.”
